The Beach Boys Biography
The Beach Boys have always been thought of as “The Premier All American Band” and are now approaching their fiftieth anniversary.
The band was formed in California in 1961 by Brian Wilson and his brothers Carl and Dennis along with Brian’s cousin, Mike Love. The original line up also included briefly David Marks and Al Jardine. Many changes over the years in personnel find the band now led by founder Mike Love, alongside long time member, Bruce Johnson. Of the Wilson brothers only Brian Wilson is still alive, with Dennis dying in 1983 and Carl dying in 1998. The band have had many hit singles including, ‘California Girls’, ‘I Get Around’ and ‘Good Vibrations’, with successful albums such as, ‘Pet Sounds’, ‘Surf’s Up’ and ‘Holland’. Over the last forty five years there have been numerous greatest hits packages, which have ensured that the Beach Boys continue to have a high profile, continuously attracting new fans.
