Strange Fruit #281

Strange Fruit is a unique two-hour radio show exploring the world of underground, strange and generally neglected music. All shows are themed and all shows set out to give the most hardened of sound-hounds some new delight to sample.

The show is also unique in providing homework for undergraduate students on North West Kent College’s Foundation Degree in Professional Writing (who dig up many of the odd facts featured in the links between tracks).

Neil Nixon, the founder and presenter of the show has released a book about rare albums for Gonzo Multimedia.

The show is broadcast on Miskin Radio every Sunday from 10-00-midnight.

Neil Nixon Biography

Neil Nixon has been writing for publication since he was a student. Much of his output as an author and journalist has revolved around the paranormal in its various forms and popular music, so the collision of legend and popular music legends in this book is well within his comfort zone. His previous books for Gonzo Multimedia are 500 Albums You Won’t Believe…Until You Hear Them (co-authored with Thom Nixon) and The Devil’s Jukebox (co-authored with Owen Wilson). Neil also alternates presentation of the radio show Strange Fruit which focusses on the obscure and generally strange, and presents every Strange Harvest (a monthly round up of new music fit for the Strange Fruit audience). Both shows are syndicated via the web radio page of Gonzo Multimedia. When not writing for a living Neil can be found teaching undergraduates to do the same thing, running a course in Professional Writing based in Dartford. A brief insight into Neil’s various activities is available at his website www.neilnixon.com. He can be contacted through this site and is generally amenable to paid gigs which involve turning up and discussing his various strange interests, including myths and legends concerning The Beatles.
