The Gonzo Daily: Monday/Tuesday

Corinna is probably coming home today to convalesce. We are all, as you may exprect, extremely relieved by this. However, it is NOT set in stone yet: she needs a few more tests frst. I will keep you wall in the loop when I know what the loop actually consists of.

Many of you have told me to forget about everything else but Corinna until she is out of hospital, but leaving things that need to be done is bad for my mental health, so I will work as much as I can, as much for my own sanity than for any other reason. But again thank you for all that you have done for us.

I am also very sad to say that Paul Whitrow, an old friend of mine for over thirty years, died this morning. My life is suddenly immeasurably poorer. He could be a massive pain in the arse at times but I can truthfully say that I loved him dearly.

You guys have been doing massive amounts of praying for Corinna. I believe that the outpouring of good vibes transmitted electronically, being a little like a Tibetan prayer flag. Find out more:…

Meanwhile I continue to pretend that I am a popstar, because now I have sold eleven whole copies of my new album Coldharbour. If I continue at this rate I will get a silver disc sometime at the beginning of the next millenium. Coldharbour, by the way, can be found here:

I think it is really rather good, but then again I would say that wouldn't I?

Gonzo Weekly #369/70

Dear Friends,

This is another of those issues in which I have been overtaken by events. Corinna was unexpectedly and urgently admitted to hospital on Thursday afternoon, and subsequently has operations on both her kidneys. If her obs improve markedly she may be out on Monday but we are not counting on it.

Her latest blood results show no change, but whether or not there should have been changes twelve hours after the operation I cannot comment. She appears to be in good spirits. Once again, thank you for all your kind comments and support I am going to try and keep the blogs and things going, and I hope that you will forgive me both for the lateness of this issue, and for the fact that the news pages, radio shows and the clickable links are missing.

I will keep everyone posted about what is happening, and I would like to think that the next issue of this magazine will come out more or less on schedule

Many of you have told me to forget about everything else but Corinna until she is out of hospital, but leaving things that need to be done is bad for my mental health, so I will work as much as I can, as much for my own sanity than for any other reason. But again thank you for all that you have done for us.

Love and a Happy Christmas.

Hail Eris!

And there are radio shows from Mack Maloney and Friday Night Progressive AND Canterbury sans Fronieres AND Merrell Fankhauser, but no sign of Srange Fruit this week, there is a column from Kev Rowland, and one from Mr Biffo, and one from C J Stone, and one from Neil Nixom but Roy Weard, is on hiatus. There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and antichinuses who have lost their shoes (OK, nothing to do with tiny marsupials who are searching for their footwear, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

* The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...

* The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The same team also do a weekly newsletter called - imaginatively - The Gonzo Weekly. Find out about it at this link:

* We should probably mention here, that some of our posts are links to things we have found on the internet that we think are of interest. We are not responsible for spelling or factual errors in other people's websites. Honest guv!

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 60 who - together with a Jack Russell called Archie, an infantile orange cat named after a song by Frank Zappa, three other cats, one totally coincidentally named after one of the Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention Archie and the Cats?
