Mick Abrahams and Guests - Mick Abrahams Revived
This is my description text 1. It can support html.

Over the years Mick Abrahams has recorded a number of solo albums, steeped in the delta blues DNA that had mystically been passed down to him by Robert Johnson. Mick is 71 now, and not in the best of health, but he still has the heart of a bluesman and the remarkable musicianship on this gem of an album pays testament to that.

And now, at the age of 71 he has made what is possibly the strongest album of his career. This time he is accompanied by a whole slew of special guests including Martin Barre his successor in Jethro Tull, legendary singer Paul Jones, Elliott Randall, Steely Dan’s one-time guitarist, Jim Rodford drummer from The Kinks, Bernie Marsden the guitarist from Whitesnake, and Bill Wyman the best bass player The Rolling Stones ever had.

For those not in the know, Mick Abrahams has just released a brand new solo album entitledRevived!. It's true that over the years legendary Blodwyn Pig/Jethro Tull original guitarist Abrahams has recorded a number of solo albums, but there's something very special about this latest one.

Released just a few weeks after his 72nd birthday, Abrahams is joined on the impressive 17-track blues recording by a host of musicians, including: Rolling Stones legend Bill Wyman, Martin Barre, Paul Jones, Mark Feltham (from Nine Below Zero), Beverley Skeete, Josh Philips, Bernie Marsden (guitarist from Whitesnake), Jim Rodford (drummer from The Kinks) and Graham Walker. Combining, in his own word, "some lovely old songs which I’ve just taken with no rhyme or reason other than the fact that I like them and have always wanted to play them” together with music industry insider knowledge of how songs should come together these days, Revived! is, quite possibly, Abrahams best solo work to date.

Revived! is Abraham's 15th solo album, a run that stared back in 1975 with Have Fun Learning The Guitar with Mick Abrahams and culminated in 2013's "lost" studio album, Hoochie Coochie Man. The songs he and his friends have chosen to cover here are classics in their own right, but the way Abrahams and his merry me re-tackle them ensures that each one is getting a new lease of life here, trust me.

"Revived! is a good comeback for Mick Abrahams. Here's hoping we hear lots more from him." Ralph Greco Jnr, Vintage Rock

"And here’s one time Blodwyn Pig / Jethro Tull man, Mick Abrahams, five years on from his stroke, and with a new album to boot. Well done that man.  As you can tell from the cover, he still has a sense of humour, as anyone who saw the cover of an early Blodwyn Pig album will attest.

It’s a mixture of covers and originals, with an array of old friends popping in to help out. Now, gird yersel, because I’m about to drop some pretty heavy names.  Deep breath.  Geoff Whitehorn, Martin Barre, Bernie Marsden, Mark Feltham, Paul Jones, Bill Wyman and many more.

It starts and finishes with versions of the old Blodwyn Pig tune, ‘Summer Day’, there are takes on Canned Heats ‘On The Road Again’ and the Chuck Berry tune ‘Nadine’.  Abraham himself sings on a couple of tunes, and does a fine job on the Leadbelly chestnut ‘Goodnight Irene’, with some moothie from Paul Jones.  Jethro Tull fans will get moist when Johnny Kidd and the Pirates ‘I Can Tell’ gets a run out as it sees Martin Barre and Mick Abrahams on the same tune!

As a Whitesnake fan of a certain vintage, I particularly enjoyed Bernie Marsden popping up on Jimmy Reeds ‘Bright Lights Big City’ which also features the aforementioned Paul Jones.  There is also a double disc version out there with a 30 minute behind the scenes DVD.  Oh, and if all that weren’t enough 50% of the proceeds from the album are going to the Kids ‘N’ Cancer UK charity.  So buy it now."
